Language skills: I feg snakke litte Norsk og hobbo pocito Espanol et je parle un peu de Francais. Basically I speak not very much of a very little…but I try to get by
Mechanical ability: Minimal. I have worked in Engineering / Mechanical companies since I was 18, but don’t seem to have picked up a great deal of skills relevant to fixing moto-taxis.
Special skills: I can fold my tongue in half (front to back) and can balance a plastic chair on my chin (not at the same time)
Training plan: I am honing my abilities to camp and drink beer. Every time I ride my motorbike, I pretend I have 2 wheels behind me.
Phobias: I am scared of failure. That and falling from high ledges/cliffs.
Most excited by: Reaching the finish line and traversing the Andes
Thinks Rich will be most valued for: His organisation skills and his laid back attitude.
Thinks Rich will be most hated for: His laid back attitude.

Age: 35
Previous adventure experience: From the humble beginnings of a train-based tour of Europe (inter-rail) in 1994 and a safari and mountain expedition to Tanzania in 1998, the proper adventures started in 2005, with the Mongol Rally (London – Ulan Bataar). This adventure was how I met Chris, our Fiat Pandas conquering Europe and Asia in convoy. The Rickshaw run followed in 2006/7, 4000km of 3 wheeled mayhem travelling the length of India. Since then I have been pining for adventure – and so the 5 year wait comes to an end this New Year.
Language skills: Dos Cerveza is the limit of my Spanish, but I will make a proper effort to learn enough to get by, meet people properly and get out of trouble. Communication greatly enriches these types of trip.
Mechanical ability: I have none. I am hopeless, but will try to get stuck in if I need to. How complicated can a moto-taxi be?
Special skills: I can hold my breath for ages. I perceive danger as quite fun/funny. I organise the hell out of things.
Training plan: Might get my motorbike CBT, so I can competently ride my way into trouble, and then learn Spanish and get fit, so I can talk or run my way out of it.
Phobias: I hate insane heights, and get terrible altitude sickness. I’m terrible with insects, especially winged ones. Not fond of animals that are able to kill me. In fact, looking at it, I’m basically scared of Peru.
Most excited by: Stunning views, the open (unpaved) road, total escape, conquering another impossible challenge.
Thinks Chris will be most valued for: Chris is a great travel buddy; outgoing, confident, good driver, good mechanically and knows a bit of Spanish too. Basically, travelling with Chris is a rich experience.
Thinks Chris will be most hated for: Challenging locals to a ridiculous mortal duel, or talking us into jail.
